Program Outreach Internship

Oregon Humanities is committed to bringing people together across differences of background, experience, and belief. We work across Oregon and sometimes beyond to connect people and communities through conversation, storytelling, and participatory programs to inspire understanding and collaborative change. Each year, we offer public conversations and programs across the state, train and support discussion facilitators, and award grants and fellowships that help people connect, reflect, and cultivate a stronger sense of agency in their communities.

Oregon Humanities is currently seeking a program outreach intern to help with targeted promotion of our programs statewide. Current programs include Consider This, the Conversation Project, Dear Stranger, grants and fellowships, and facilitation training. More information about our programs may be found on our website.

Primary projects and activities:

  • Collaborate to develop and execute a comprehensive outreach strategy to promote Oregon Humanities (OH) programs throughout Oregon
  • Propose and implement new marketing and promotional strategies for programming
  • Work with OH staff to identify target partners and participants and maintain a contact list to whom promotion may be directed
  • Utilize project management tools to plan and collaborate on promotion activities
  • Participate in team and project meetings as schedules allow and work collaboratively with program staff on relationship building and outreach for OH programs
  • Other duties as mutually agreed upon and assigned

Desired qualifications:

  • Interest and commitment to the humanities and Oregon Humanities’ mission
  • Background or coursework in marketing, communications, and/or nonprofit program outreach or promotion
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including attention to detail, problem solving, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Basecamp, and Zoom
  • Ability to commit to 5 to 10 hours per week during the internship period

Details:

  • Supervised by: OH Program Manager
  • Internship hours: 6 hours/week (OH is willing to work with school internship requirements.)
  • Internship period: October through May
  • Salary: Oregon minimum wage
  • Eligibility requirements: Intern must be a current college student residing within the state of Oregon and eligible to work in the United States. Documentation must be furnished at onboarding.

Work Location:

Depending on intern location and preference, a mutually agreed upon schedule and work location will be established. This intern does not need to live in Portland.
