Interpretando Nuestro Territorio

July 21, 2024 | 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. | Priday Ranch

Highway 293, Madras OR 97741

We had six people join us. People drove in the van of Vámonos Outside from Bend to the preserve. We stopped at Madras Latino Association to pick up some people who had signed up from there, but they weren't able to make it, so we made our way to the preserve with the six participants from Bend. The day was cooler than we expected, which worked in our favor. People were very enthusiastic and interested, asking questions and making comments while Gabriel from the LandTrust and Juliana from Oregon Humanities shared about the restoration work being done at the ranch. Participants also opened up for conversation, under a chestnut tree, about the relationships between the land where they come from and the land where they live now. We talked about concepts like belonging and stewardship of the land—all in Spanish! We heard great comments about wanting more of this kind of program, where people don't just go on a hike, but learn and connect to each other in a deeper way.
