Oregon inaugurated the end of cannabis prohibition all the way back in 1973 when it became the first US state to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana. Now, after nearly a century of attempted federal prohibition, cannabis is woven into the fabric of our mainstream society, from entertainment platforms to publicly traded corporations. Ryan Stroud is a former award-winning cannabis producer and creator of the first CBD beverage to ever be produced in a Pepsi factory and sold in a 7-Eleven. He has mixed feelings about this. Ryan is an entrepreneur in general and a long-time active community member and instigator. In 2016 he facilitated the Oregon Humanities Conversation Project program “Homeless in the Land of Plenty.” He holds a master’s degree in conflict resolution from Portland State University.
