Join interdisciplinary artist, death doula, and hospice chaplain Crystal Akins in a transformative workshop that explores art as a tool for healing. Through storytelling, conversation, mindfulness activities, and art making, participants will learn to access insights using the practice of art divination.
Crystal will engage in conversation about her work and guide participants in creating art through meditative and intuitive processes that allow the subconscious mind to express itself. Together, they will interpret the resulting artwork to reveal meaningful messages and symbols, offering guidance related to questions that participants may have about life, community, a given situation, etc.
This workshop will also explore spiritual care, honoring diverse spiritual traditions and practices. Participants will explore how to engage in practices that prioritize connection with the earth, community, and the divine, while also critically examining ways in which aspects of contemporary life have altered our understanding of spirituality.
This workshop will be part of Crystal’s community engagement for her show, "A Thousand Hands," at the Visual Arts Center in Newport. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the intuitive paths Crystal uses to create her art and engage in discussions about using art as a tool for spiritual care. This workshop offers a powerful and transformative opportunity for those seeking spiritual care and guidance, as well as for individuals interested in exploring the intersection of art, and spirituality.
