Vote for your favorite Oregon Humanities essay
Help us decide which personal essay from an issue of Oregon Humanities published before 2010 still resonates today and should be included in the upcoming “Encore” issue. Up for consideration are these ten pieces that generated a lot of conversation when they were originally published (e.g., letters to the editor, requests for reprint, comments to staff):
If you’d like to help us make this choice, please follow this easy, three-step process:
(1) Download the PDF (below) of the ten essays or read them online (above).
(2) Read/reread all of them, rather than simply voting for an essay written by someone you know. They are short, no more than 2,000 words each. Consider yourself a guest editor and think about which still offers a fresh, interesting perspective on a current concern.
(3) By 11:59 p.m. on November 14, 2011, click on the Vote Now! link below to tell us your favorite. If you want to tell us why it should be included the “Encore” issue, or if you want to write in another essay, you can do that, too.
For helping us select a readers’ favorite, we’ll enter you in a drawing to win O. Hm. merchandise and signed copies of books by Oregon writers. Remember, the deadline to vote and enter the drawing is November 14, 2011.
