Oregon Chautauqua reshaped to promote public conversations

12 February 2009 | Permalink

Oregon Council for the Humanities seeks proposals for its new interactive, facilitated conversation program.
Oregon Chautauqua, a popular speakers bureau of the Oregon Council for the Humanities (OCH) that has reached statewide audiences for twenty-eight years, has been transformed into The Conversation Project: A New Chautauqua, which connects Oregonians with public scholars and provocative ideas through idea-driven dialogue.
OCH invites scholars who live or work in Oregon to submit proposals for the 2009-10 Conversation Project. The Request for Proposals may be downloaded at http://www.oregonhum.org or requested by e-mail from Program Director Jennifer Allen at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). The postmark deadline for submission is March 16, 2009.
Oregon Chautauqua will finish out its current season on August 31, 2009. The Conversation Project season will begin on November 1, 2009.
After a comprehensive evaluation of its programs, OCH created the Conversation Project to offer statewide opportunities for civic dialogue and humanities learning, but with a greater emphasis on contemporary themes and interactive, facilitated conversations rather than traditional scholar presentations.
