Free College Course for Low-Income Adults in Salem
Oregon Humanities is now accepting applications for free college-level humanities course offered at Willamette University

Adults living on low incomes in the Salem area who want to explore challenging ideas about power, justice, knowledge, and community can now apply for Humanity in Perspective (HIP), which will take place from mid-May through August 2012 at Willamette University.

Oregon Humanities’ Think & Drink series explores how technology shapes the future by looking at social movements, food, artificial intelligence, and robotic warfare. Think & Drink events are free and open to the public.
All events in the series will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at The Mission Theater, 1624 NW Glisan, Portland. Minors with parents allowed. The series includes the following events:

Oregon Humanities has awarded a Responsive Program Grant of $1,000 to Wallowa Land Trust and Wallowa Resources to support “Wallowa County in Transition: New Stories from the Old West,” a series on how people in rural areas adapt to changing economies, social structures, political landscapes, and ecosystems. The Oregon Humanities board elected two new members at the fall 2011 meeting, and Governor Kitzhaber appointed a third in November.
